plunge into darkness

from my Gamespot blog cos I'm obviously too lazy to write an actual meaningful entry:
-------------------------------------------

plunge into darkness

We both got our state tax checks at the end of last week. We spirited later that day to a secondhand electronics/vacuum cleaner store in Huber Heights [Vacs & Videos] and Brad added a vintage NES to our collection plus four games [two of which were my choice, Rampage and Joust]. They had a very limited selection of good games for any system, including the NES, but I managed to find a little gem for myself for Gamecube [and only twelve bucks!], Eternal Darkness. I've only played one chapter so far cos those kind of games make me very nervous and I can only play them a little at a time or my blood pressure just gets too high. I like it, I just hate zombies... and there are a lot of them in this game. Beyond that, the graphics are scary, the sound is great and the story is really immersive. I dig it, it's just going to take me some time to get through it with my nerves and all. At least I'm taking a break from We ♥ Katamari. All I really have left to do there is roll up 1,000,000 red roses though the other levels are still fun to play. I just need to do something else for a while. So many games, so little time... I truly have no life *smacks forehead* oh well.

what the hell to do with myself

Weeks of Shadow of the Colossus, days and days of We ♥ Katamari, a new collection of movies (which I seem to be saving for my next string of days off - thank you Wal*Mart for cutting my hours and making me bored and poor again) and now I seem to be at a loss for what to do with myself in my free time.

I'm not really burnt out on We ♥ Katamari so much as I don't want to risk burning myself out on it like I did Shadow of the Colossus. Plus, I've already beaten it - except the very final stage where, over an undetermined period of time, you roll up a katamari composed of 1,000,000 roses. I could clean, but anymore I like to space out my chores over a number of days/sessions. Hell, I bought a bunch of clothes today [mainly for him, about $50 worth]just so I could go one more day without having to do laundry.

I'm not missing any Howard Stern cos I typically listen to the pirated Sirius shows while I play video games. I'm not missing out on Curb Your Enthusiasm cos I've either watched whatever's been available On Demand or listened to/watched seasons 1 & 2 and almost all of seasons 3, 4 & 5 on Winamp and there's nothin new happenin with that currently as far as I know [yet we're still dvr-ing episodes from HBO for some reason].

We do have a new pet in place of the many fallen hermit crabs to which attention is paid. Yesterday, we both got our tax refunds and, among other things that cost money, we got a Russian tortoise and all new stuff to set her up. Set us back quite a bit, but we had the money and she's way super cool. We named her before we found out she was a girl but we're stickin with the name Geezer cos she has a face like an old man. She's fun to watch but is kind of narcoleptic and hates to be disturbed when she's sleepin (which she does most of the night) so, again, at a loss... Well, Brad's on the phone. He provides a decent amount of entertainment. Perhaps we'll gab a while and then I will put on a movie and doze on the sofa for the night?

No idea.

x

P.S.: I truly have no life

and then there were none

within a few days of the last entry regarding the crabs the remaining two croaked. Ace outlasted them all. the littlest Ecuadorian had the last laugh.

family reunion

Me: yo
utopiangirrl: hello
Me: long time no monkey
utopiangirrl: I know
utopiangirrl: how have you been?
utopiangirrl: I have been sick but much better now
utopiangirrl: going through major changes at work
utopiangirrl: aggravating
Me: been busy
Me: anti-social
utopiangirrl: yeah me too
Me: playing too much video games
Me: now I
Me: now I'm burnt out on just about all my games
utopiangirrl: I havn't been on the computer for a week
Me: I ordered a new one from Wal*Mart.com but they take too long to ship stuff
Me: done your taxes yet?
utopiangirrl: no but we are getting ready to
utopiangirrl: Tom had to get his books and now I have to take them my grandma's
utopiangirrl: you?
Me: I have to find some chocolate
Me: I am in such a bad mood
Me: I'll catch ya later
utopiangirrl: ok
utopiangirrl: bye
Me: I'm back
utopiangirrl: are you in a better mood?
Me: I'm waiting on my refund
Me: no
Me: I've got to let myself have periods from now on
Me: I told that nurse practitioner I had to or it'd make me crazy
Me: I'm such a bitch when I don't have a period
Me: next month I'm not overlapping my birth control, no matter how painful it is
Me: damn, you never write in Blogspot anymore
Me: I've missed a lot of shit cos I don't read your livejournal anymore
Me: I just now logged onto it
utopiangirrl: oh
utopiangirrl: sorry
utopiangirrl: Tom took my lap top over
utopiangirrl: sorry I wasn't talking
Me: tis ok
Me: was requesting info from Sinclair again so I can apply
utopiangirrl: oh
utopiangirrl: yeah, I hardly write on livejournal too
utopiangirrl: I don't know.....maybe things will pick up.......
Me: you never took that survey I sent you and posted on mine specifically so i could coax you to fill it out
utopiangirrl: I have just been too gloomy lately to do much of anything......
Me: yeah, I hardly ever write either
Me: I'm afraid to do a year in review and talk about how much better we're doing compared to last year cos I don't wanna jinx us
utopiangirrl: I understand
utopiangirrl: grim sims is a free site again
utopiangirrl: but I noticed there were a few items missing
utopiangirrl: apparently Katrina destroyed all their shit, so they unlocked the items on there and stopped all subscripitons
Me: I wish I could still play the Sims on the puter
utopiangirrl: what sucks is Sims Skins is only for Sims 2 now. They said that they would put The Sims back on there only if people requested.
utopiangirrl: But luckly I downloaded most of their skins and saved them on disk
utopiangirrl: that is what I plan on doing with Sims Grims
utopiangirrl: I have a file all ready, I just gotta burn the shit to disk
utopiangirrl: Grim Sims...grrrr
Me: I haven't played the Sims 2 in a while, of course I don't play Gamecube at all right now
utopiangirrl: I miss my PS2
utopiangirrl: I really wanna play Vice City
Me: if mine ever burns up like a lot of people's have, I dunno what I'll do
utopiangirrl: maybe that is what happened to mine
Me: I think I've grown to hate people so much I would rather close myself in and just live in the world of video games
Me: that can't be healthy
utopiangirrl: but I'll never know for sure because some asshole broke the door on the disk thingy and pieces rattle in it
Me: apparently PS2's had a flaw [that I actually heard never got fixed even in the new ones] that after a while, they just burn up and stop working
utopiangirrl: isn't that a bitch
utopiangirrl: so far Heath's still works after four or five years
Me: yours isn't the only one that that happened to
Me: of course, both my friends who have/had them, theirs have been fine for years
Me: yeah, I guess some turned out ok
utopiangirrl: I wonder if playing DVDs in it had anything to do with it. I was told once that it wasn't safe to do so but I thought it was dumb because they were capible of playing DVDs anyway.
utopiangirrl: Amy and Heath use to play dvds in their's until they got a dvd player
utopiangirrl: Tom got me into playing Magic The Gathering again
Me: I played one dvd in mine
Me: so far
utopiangirrl: would you believe it. I am still trying to download queen videos. I almost got I'm Going Slightly Mad. but the user wasn't on very long tonight.
utopiangirrl: I have been downloading like crazy
Me: that's my favorite
utopiangirrl: I know
utopiangirrl: I like it too
Me: in just over a month, I will be standing in front of a stage with Brian May and Roger taylor performing on it
utopiangirrl: your mom came thru BK one day before Christmas and told me
utopiangirrl: I was a little jealous
utopiangirrl: but very happy and excited for you too
Me: you're the only one
utopiangirrl: really
utopiangirrl: what jealous?
Me: everybody else thinks I'm a big dork
utopiangirrl: take me with you
Me: I can't
utopiangirrl: buy a big purse and hide me in it
utopiangirrl: lol
Me: I'm sorry
utopiangirrl: you better think of me when you go
utopiangirrl: so at least I will be there in thought
Me: hmmm, where do I find a big purse
utopiangirrl: can you take pictures?
Me: I don't think cameras are allowed
utopiangirrl: isnt that a bitch
Me: I'm gonna buy a pragram
Me: there will be pictures in it
utopiangirrl: oh
utopiangirrl: cool
Me: then I will complete my program/memory collection for all my favorite interests/celebrities
Me: what should I study?
Me: I don't even know anymore what I'd be good at
Me: I need to do something that will become a lucrative career
utopiangirrl: I don't know
utopiangirrl: I don't know what you are into anymore
Me: neither do I
utopiangirrl: if it is same or something new
utopiangirrl: different
Me: I thought I knew for a while
Me: I need to just take a career planning test
Me: and let that decide for me
Me: tests know what they're talking about
utopiangirrl: maybe you should try one thing and stick with it for a while....be successful at it and then try something new, maybe better or more challenging. or maybe something similar but different.
Me: as long as I get out of Wal*Mart
Me: it's killing my spirit
Me: I used to like people
Me: now I can't even stand to be in public
utopiangirrl: I don't care much for people and I never was a people person
utopiangirrl: but I am respectful of others, so longs as they are respectful of me.
Me: I can't stand to be in a store even as a customer. I hate customers so much I can't even be around them as a customer myself
utopiangirrl: at work we have some dumb customers. I try to be real nice and sometimes I find it hard . Like Saturday they were awful and were pissing me off and I did get snotty with them but most of the time I just simply smile and move on. I love it when an great customer comes through. they make the day better. they really make it worth it
Me: God I hate people
Me: I hate them more and more every day
utopiangirrl: I would rather not work with customers
Me: me too
Me: that's why I don't complain too much that my hours have been cut so much
utopiangirrl: at BK we have jerks that come through and treat us like shit. because somehow we must be lower than they because we work in fast food. If we didn't they wouldn't be fed for lunch, they stupid pricks.
utopiangirrl: the even
Me: as much as I need the money, I can't stand to be there and I really enjoy having a little extra time off right now
utopiangirrl: did you read my journal entry
Me: yeah
utopiangirrl: on sec
Me: I feel for you
Me: working at Wal*Mart is just the same
utopiangirrl: ok
utopiangirrl: we have a new store manager now
utopiangirrl: and he is hiring a whole new crew
utopiangirrl: they are making more than us
utopiangirrl: the old crew
utopiangirrl: isn't that a bitch!!!
Me: I read about how he won't excuse absences. lemme tell you something fucked up:
utopiangirrl: we weren't suppose to know but some how someone spilled the beans
Me: do you know that, at Wal*Mart, if you are sick and miss work and return with a doctor's note they still will not excuse your absence?
utopiangirrl: that is fucked up
Me: all absences are unexcused
Me: unless someone dies or you have a hospital stay
utopiangirrl: that's bullshit
Me: for real
utopiangirrl: my grandma Kimmey is trying to get on at Wal Mart because her insurance went up and she needs extra money on the side for her meds
utopiangirrl: she retired like three years ago
utopiangirrl: from being a school janitor
Me: I need to find something else
Me: i think sometimes if I just worked at a different kind of store where the associates are respected a little moew
Me: mre
Me: goddammit
Me: *more
utopiangirrl: allot of people at work are quiting. a lady that has been there for years talked to the district manager and the new store manager about me because they were asking questions. She told them I was a good worker. They must have asked if I was going to quit too like everyone else because she said she told them I hadn't decided yet. which is true. I like my job but I don't know if I like all the changes and of course this new guy Bill. but I am trying to give him a chance.
utopiangirrl: the first night I worked with him I was really upset. I called my former store manager and she made me feel better.
Me: haha, respected a little more... I can't believe I just said that
Me: I mean, respected at all
Me: is he a jerk?
utopiangirrl: yes
utopiangirrl: he isn't very social
Me: fun
utopiangirrl: but he isn't the worst
utopiangirrl: I can't really figure him out
utopiangirrl: like
Me: I hate that
Me: brb
utopiangirrl: ok
utopiangirrl has signed back in. (2/8/2006 10:13 PM)

Me: sorry I'm taking so long
Me: I'm filling out a job application
utopiangirrl: nah
utopiangirrl: no problem
Me: I'm attempting Best Buy again
Me: I'm finished
utopiangirrl: cool
Me: except that now Brad wants the puter
Me: I think I have a better chance this time cos my availability is better
utopiangirrl: ok
Me: and I have a decent experience record now that I have all this time put in at Wal*Mart
Me: well, I shall bid you good night
Me: good night and good will to all
Me: with the exception of our customers
utopiangirrl: night
utopiangirrl: lol
Me: *hugs*

no rugosus

Following further research, I made the discovery that the two new hermit crabs were misidentified. They're not ruggies, they're indos. So, here's the official list:

the Ecuadorians: Strong Bad, The Cheat, Smoky, Hoss, Monkey, Ace, Ed, Brak, Weebl, Domino, Strutter, Deuce, Ziggy, Jibbi and Creature.

the Caribbeans: Chief, Thor and Dynasty.

and last but certainly not least, the Indos: Destroyer [III, the tribute to the tribute] and Loki

Et Voila! and there you have it. Bob's your uncle!

and a bit of how's your father as well x

posted by the orange guru @ 7:08 PM

After many sad losses we are presently left with two hermit crabs. It's been just the two of them for some time now. For the longest time we had three remaining: Dynasty, Loki and Ace (who I think is a tribute, don't think it's the original Ace) but then Dynasty got sick. He had the most drawn out death of them all. Where it took the rest of them a few hours, Dynasty took days. So now it's just Loki and Ace and they're doing very well. An Indo and an Ecuadorian. Who'd have thunk?

Joyeux Anniversaire
